Nail repair

With gel, a new nail is created. With this technique, you no longer see anything of the damaged nail and your feet can be seen again!

First, the nail is milled thinner and the nail environment is cleaned thoroughly, then the gel is applied.

The repaired nail can stay in place for 6 weeks, depending on wearing the right shoes. You can continue to treat the nail fungus with tea tree oil and/or nail oil.

As an additional option, the nails can be further finished with gel polish or nail polish.

Nagelreparatie

Fungal nails and foot fungus, we want to get rid of them as soon as possible!

Men and women are at roughly equal risk of getting nail fungus. The risk increases with age. People with reduced immunity (people with diabetes mellitus or those undergoing chemotherapy) are also more likely to get nail fungus. If you suffer from a fungal infection on the skin of your feet, the risk of a fungal infection under your nails is also higher. A thickened nail can cause pressure on the skin, resulting in pain.
Fungi thrive in a humid environment. This makes the moist nail plate an attractive place. Spores of fungi are everywhere in our environment, so we easily come into contact with them.
Especially in common areas such as showers, swimming pools, sports halls, hotels and saunas, you can catch a fungal infection. When you walk around there barefoot, you almost inevitably come into contact with fungal spores.
Fungal nails can be recognised by a brown or yellow discolouration that appears on the sides of the nail. It usually starts at the nail of the big or little toe. In some situations, fungal nails can be treated. However, keep in mind that this can take 9 to 12 months and you have to treat the nail daily at home.

You can do the following to minimise the risk of infection:

  • wash your feet daily, preferably without soap
  • dry your feet well, especially between the toes.
  • wear socks made of absorbent, natural material such as wool or cotton
  • put on clean socks every day
  • preferably choose shoes made of real leather
  • change shoes regularly and do not wear shoes too long together
  • always wear slippers in public areas such as changing rooms, showers or saunas
